چکیده
SOURCE/DESCRIPTION: A 2184 bp cDNA (H.4 IRBP) encoding human interstitial retinol-binding protein (IRBP; Fong et al., 1984) isolated from a human retina cDNA library in XgtlO by screening with a bovine IRBP cDNA probe (B.23; Liou et al., 1986). POLYMORPHISM: Bgl II (AGATCT) identifies a 2-allele polymorphism with bands at 6.3 kb (A1) and 4.3 kb (A2). There is a strong invariant band at 2.5 kb. FREQUENCY: In 43 unrelated individuals (41 Caucasians, 2 Blacks) A1 6.3 kb 0.85 A2 4.3 kb 0.15 NOT POLYMORPHIC FOR: Hind III, Pvu II, Bcl I CHROMOSOMAL LOCALIZATION: Mapped to chromosome 10 using somatic cell hybrids. In situ hybridization suggests regional assignment near p1l.2 -* qll.2 with a secondary site of hybridization at q24 + 25. MENDELIAN INHERITANCE: Demonstrated in two 6-member families (see Fig.). PROBE AVAILABILITY: Available to collaborators. REFERENCES: Fong, S.-L. et al., J. Neurochem., 42:1667-1676 (1984). Liou, G.I. et al., Vision Research 26:1645-1654 (1986). Multiple restriction fragment length polymorphisms at the insulin receptor locus: a highly informative marker for linkage analysis.
Although resistance to insulin action is a well-studied phenomenon in non-insulin-dependent diabetes and certain genetic syndromes, the role of inherited defects of the insulin receptor in these disorders is unknown. To facilitate the evaluation of that role, restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) were identified using various portions of the insulin receptor cDNA to examine digested...
متن کاملEnzymatic Digestion Pattern of Varicella Zoster Virus ORF38 and ORF54 in Chickenpox Patients Using RFLP Technique
Background: Varicella zoster virus (VZV) causes chickenpox in children and zoster (zona) in the elderly. Using RFLP-PCR method for detection of VZV specific SNPs ORF38, 54 and 62 could distinguish the profile of VZV isolates. The aim of this study was to investigate enzymatic digestion pattern of VZV ORF38 and ORF54 in chickenpox patients using RFLP technique. <b...
متن کاملComparative linkage maps for the mosquitoes (Culex pipiens and Aedes aegypti) based on common RFLP loci.
We report construction of a comparative linkage map for the mosquito (Culex pipiens) based on restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) using cDNA clones from Aedes aegypti as probes to Southern blots of Cx. pipiens genomic DNA. Seventy-one cDNA clones were screened for hybridization and genetic diversity among three Cx. pipiens strains. Fifty-two of 71 cDNA clones, isolated from and pr...
متن کاملBiochemical and biophysical properties of recombinant human interphotoreceptor retinoid binding protein.
PURPOSE Interphotoreceptor retinoid-binding protein (IRBP) binds and transports retinoids and fatty acids in the interphotoreceptor space (IPS). To understand the relationship between the protein structure and its functions requires bulk quantities of human IRBP. The authors sought to produce recombinant human IRBP (rhIRBP), a perfect duplicate in amino acid sequence of the authentic human prot...
متن کاملInterphotoreceptor retinoid-binding protein (IRBP), a major 124 kDa glycoprotein in the interphotoreceptor matrix of Xenopus laevis. Characterization, molecular cloning and biosynthesis.
We have demonstrated that the neural retina of Xenopus laevis secretes into the extracellular matrix surrounding the inner and outer segments of its photoreceptors a glycoprotein containing hydrophobic domains conserved in mammalian interphotoreceptor retinoid-binding proteins (IRBPs). The soluble extract of the interphotoreceptor matrix contains a 124 kDa protein that cross-reacts with anti-bo...
